"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" is still on the top spot on its third week leaving "The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death" of Relativity Media LLC behind.
The J.R.R. Tolkien's last "The Hobbit" installment has now gathered $21.9 million sales for Warner Bros within the US and Canada. "Into the Woods" of Walt Disney gained $19.1 million, "Unbroken" of Universal Pictures generated $18.4 million, and "Angel of Death" collected $15.1 million sales, according to Box Office Mojo.
"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" success has been attributed to the fact that it is the finale of the whole middle-earth movie series. This film has become important to many, especially to the millennial generation, because they've literally grown-up with the production.
Meanwhile, Rentrak reported that theaters and studios are now looking for a "bounce-back" as they were able to experience a slow-down in 2014. The report revealed that sales have gone 5.3% down amounting only to $10.3 billion- the lowest figures since 2011. The possible blockbusters this 2015 include movies from Disney, Marvel, and Lions Gate.
Hammer Film's "The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death", which was distributed by Relativity, on the other hand, features orphaned children during World War II. A young teacher, played by Phoebe Fox, helps the children evacuate in the countryside. Instead of finding a safe place, all of them will confront sinister spirits who have long-dwelled the haunted house.
Paul Dergarabedian of Rentrak encouraged viewers when he said, "If you are looking for a great kick-off this weekend, this is the best line-up to watch. All of the mainstream studio and award-season films are doing great."
