Actor Jackie Chan's son Jaycee Chan has been sentenced to six months in prison as he was found guilty of providing a venue for drug users. The 32-year-old was also instructed by the Dongcheng District People's Court authorities to deposit a fine of 2,000 Yuan.
The younger Chan was hosting a party for numerous drug users at his Beijing apartment in Aug 2014 when suddenly there was a police raid at the apartment. The Taiwanese heartthrob and film star Ko Kai was also apprehended by the police in this raid as he was present at the party and had tested affirmative for marijuana. Even Jaycee Chan also tested positive for the drug. The police personnel also found more than 3.5 ounces of the drug in Chan's apartment.
Chan felt remorse at his crimes and confessed voluntarily to all the offenses. As a result, the court authorities just sentenced him to six months in prison whereas the maximum sentence for the crime was three years imprisonment. Chan said that he deserved to be jailed as he had violated the laws of the land. He also added that after he is released from prison, he would turn over a new leaf and wouldn't engage in unlawful activities ever again.
Jaycee Chan's father has been an anti-drug ambassador six years previously and is also an integral part of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which is the nation's foremost political advisory committee. When the case came to light, then Jackie made it clear that he wouldn't use his political connections to secure a release for his son and on the contrary he would let the law take its own course.
