Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson collaboration "Uptown Funk" replaced Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" on Billboard Hot 100 Top Spot, That Grape Juice reported.
"Blank Space" spent 7 weeks as number one in the charts while "Uptown Funk" climbed to the number two spot. The track by Mars and Ronson ended the 19 -week reign of all females in the Billboard Hot 100 top spot.
The song became Ronson's first number one in the Hot 100 as an artist. His previous works were as a songwriter and producer that made it to number one by other singers. "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse was on the 9th place in 2007. "Hurt" by Christina Aguilera was at the 19th spot in 2006 and "Locked out of Heaven" by Mars was at number one for six weeks in 2013 to 2014.
Ronson revealed that "Uptown Funk" is "one of the best things" he has ever done and it is also Mars' "favorite thing that he has ever done."
As for Mars, he earned another number one spot for the sixth time in Billboard Hot 100. "Just the Way You Are" stayed in the top spot for four weeks in 2010. "Grenade" claimed the number one place for four weeks in 2011. "Heaven" and "When I was Your Man" both stayed for a week in the top spot in 2013, according to Billboard.
Aside from that, only 9 males in the history of Billboard Hot 100 were able to release songs that gained more top spots than Mars. Michael Jackson is the top contender with a total of 13 number one tracks. Stevie Wonder had 10 songs and Usher, Elton John and Paul McCartney all had nine tracks. George Michael bagged eight top tracks while Elvis Presley, Frank Valli and Phil Collins had seven each.
For this week in the Billboard Hot 100, Swift's "Blank Space" fell down at number two and "Take Me to Church" is standing still at number three, Just Jared reported.
