After 19 years of absence in the American market, Alfa Romeo is coming back and is coming back hard with its newest coupe, the Alfa Rome 4C Spider or simply known as Spider.

The Spider was revealed today in the North American International Auto Show and will go on sale sometime this summer. Additionally, the Spider unlike its predecessor the 4C will be convertible.

The Spider's roof is completely removable and with the 4C's superb carbon fiber chassis it needs no additional or extra underpinning to conceive the roof. The Spider is available in giallo or bright yellow color and only weight 22 pounds more compared to the 4C.

The Spider sports the familiar Alfa Romeo 1.75liter turbocharged four cylinder 237 horsepower engine. The Spider's engine also has an aluminum block and added special intakes in order to give that sporty engine sound. It also has three available exhaust systems which includes the Akrapovic dual-mode system.

Test drive on the Spider shows that it can go from zero to 60 miles/hour in less than 4.1 seconds and is capable of reaching top speeds in excess of 160 miles/hour.

On the other hand, to improve the cars handling, a lightweight aluminum suspension frame is added to the car. It also has 4 driving mode, the Dynamic, Natural and All Weather; a special Race mode was also added.

Along with its re-introduction in the North American region, Alfa Romeo also stated its plan to significantly improve its worldwide sales performance. The company plans to reach sales output of 400,000 units by 2018, more than four times its overall global sales of 95,000 in 2013.

Right now the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider doesn't have a price tag but car enthusiast and experts says that it might be well within the 4C price range. Current pricing for Alfa Romeo 4C is around $69, 695.
