China and France should work hand in hand with all parties for the effective implementation of the landmark global climate agreement that was recently reached in Paris, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday.
A Global Times article reported that in a phone conversation with French President Francois Hollande, Xi lauded the deal, saying it has charted a clear course for a concerted effort among nations to cope with climate change from 2020.
Xi also gave his nod to France after successfully hosting the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21).
The Chinese leader further stated that the triumph of the said conference showed that the global community can solve major issues such as climate change through cooperation and dialogue.
Commenting on China-France relations, Xi shared that the past year has witnessed new progress for the two nations' comprehensive partnership.
Xi said he is also hopeful that China and France will agree to maintain political exchanges, boost the improvement of global governance, deepen ties in different fields, and hold close communication and cooperation on various issues come 2016.
According to Xi, the Chinese government is willing to jointly boost global economic growth and foster its cooperation with France within the Group of Twenty (G20) framework.
Meanwhile, Hollande said he is appreciative of Xi's attendance at the opening ceremony of the climate conference, adding that China had an outstanding contribution to the conclusion of the deal.
Hollande also seconded Xi's statement calling for the effective carrying out of the climate agreement.
For the French leader, the deals also mark as another prospect for the deeper cooperation between France and China.
