According to Time, Google Translate update, which includes translating road signs and text using mobile phone's snapper, was released on Wednesday for iOS and Android users.

The update is said to make one mobile device a powerful translation tool as it will allow an instant translation with word lens and a smooth and easier conversation with the updated Translate app.

Word Lens, a new feature that was integrated with the updated Google Translate, is a real-time text translation software from an American private company Quest Visual, which they have acquired in May 2014, EWeek reported.

This powerful feature is so easy to use and is very useful, especially for those who are into travelling, as users just need to launch the Translate app (users need to make sure that they have data or internet connectivity) and point the camera to the text or sign that they want to translate and it will instantly give the translation.

Currently, the translation is available in 36 languages and works for translating English to and from German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian. According to Google, they are still working on expanding the translation into more languages.

Another update that Google made for its translate app is the voice-to-text translation tool that gives the ability to translate real-time conversations. This is where the app automatically picks up the language spoken by the speaker and translating these speech to the user's selected language.

According to the tech giant, Translate app is being used for more than one billion translations each day with more than 500 million people using it.

Along with the update, Google also launched its Classroom app which is specifically made for teachers and students. The app allows an easier communication between teachers and students as the latter can just submit his or her assignments paperlessly.
