The New Orleans Pelicans, Houston Rockets, and New York Knicks are speculated to orchestrate a blockbuster deal that would involve Dwight Howard, Terrence Jones, and Ryan Anderson.
The Pelicans have become a forgotten team in the 2015-2016 NBA regular season, struggling mightily to flash their playoff shape from last season. With a 9-19 record almost halfway through the season, the Pels are not expected to make any run for a playoff spot.
On the other hand, the Rockets remain to struggle in the Western Conference with a 15-15 record, while the Knicks still try to make a push for a serious playoff run despite posting a slate of 14-16.
With the way things are going between the three mentioned teams, it appears each clubs need to shakeup their roster before the trade deadline in February.
SB Nation proposed a deal that would send all the three teams' trade assets, which is approved by ESPN's Trade Machine.
In the trade scenario, the Rockets would receive Omer Asik and Anderson of the Pelicans, and Jose Calderon and Derrick Williams of the Knicks.
The Knicks then receive Howard and NOP's Luke Babbit, while the Pelicans get New York's Robin Lopez, Kyle O'Quinn, and Jones and KJ McDaniels from the Rockets.
The Pelicans would get a solid center in Lopez and an athletic rotation of Jones and McDaniels, which the team lacks in the three and four positions.
Bringing Anderson to Houston would give the team a stretch-four and solid backup in Williams, while the Knicks create a lethal frontline by injecting Howard into the lineup.
However, this trade speculation would only give a serious boost on the campaigns of the Rockets and the Knicks, since the Pels are almost out of playoff contention.
