Decorated by diamond crown of Czech production, the Miss Universe 2015 crown was first worn by first runner-up Ariadna Gutierrez from Colombia before it was worn by the rightful owner Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines.
Fans cannot help but compare Gutierrez and Wurtzbach after the controversial error committed by Miss Universe 2015 host Steve Harvey. Gutierrez wore the crown for a few minutes before Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega, also from Colombia, transferred it to Wurtzbach.
"I was confused," Wurtzbach told Entertainment Tonight about the erroneous announcement that Gutierrez was Miss Universe 2015. "I wasn't sure what was going on. I didn't expect that to happen at all."
On the other hand, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton commented that Gutierrez neither won nor deserved to win. He told Us Weekly that he and his fellow Miss Universe 2015 judges including Emmitt Smith, Olivia Culpo and Niecy Nash did not vote for Miss Colombia.
"Even now in defeat and the wake of everything happened, on her social media, Miss Colombia has not been handling it well. She's putting these Instagram posts up about how she's the real winner, but she's not! We didn't vote for her! She didn't win! ...
"What she is doing on Instagram is indicative of who she is as a person," Hilton also pointed out. He was referring to Gutierrez's Instagram post showing herself wearing the Miss Universe 2015 crown with a caption saying she will always be Miss Universe.
The Miss Universe 2015 crown was estimated to be worth $300,000 was produced in the workshop of Diamonds International Corporation (DIC). Ten people were involved in the entire production of the diamond crown, which took approximately four months from the first sketches to the actual production.
