NBC Universal recently announced that it will reveal the first promotional video of the anime "Berserk" at the winter Comic Market Boot which will run from Dec. 29 to Dec. 31.
Despite this revelation, it is still unknown whether what format the anime will be released. Fans believe that it will either be on TV, film or original video anime.
"Berserk" creator Kentaro Miura said that the anime project will depict the main character Guts in his Black Swordsman appearance. The Black Swordsman persona was revealed in parts of the "Berserk" manga that transcends beyond the previously animated "Berserk" story.
According to Crunchy Roll, the anime project will be released sometime in 2016. A promotional stunt will be featured at the Kokusai-Tenjijo railway station on Dec. 25 that will be followed by a teaser movie which will be presented at NBC Universal.
According to Young Animal magazine, as cited by Anime News Network, the 1997 "Berserk" television anime series will get Blu-Ray disc version that features the 2012 HD format. The Blu-Ray edition is scheduled for an April 20, 2016 release will cost 18,000 Yen or somewhere around $148.
In a statement obtained by the publication, Miura said that he will resume his work on the manga project in summer of 2016 and added that the subsequent chapters will be released as an irregular series. Following all the recently announced good news, he said that he will put the manga "Berserk" on temporary hiatus.
Miura only resumed the "Berserk" manga as a regular monthly series back in July. As of July, the "Berserk" manga has sold at least 27 million print copies in Japan and 8 million copies internationally.
