Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez has spoken up about her controversial crowning as Miss Universe 2015 only to have the crown given to the rightful owner Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines minutes later.
In an interview with W Radio in Colombia on Dec. 30, 2015, Wednesday, Gutierrez said, "I was disconnected. I haven't received phone calls from almost anyone. Very few people have communicated with me. That's because I had to grieve for what happened."
Miss Universe 2015 host Steve Harvey incorrectly announced Gutierrez as the winner of one of the most prestigious international pageants in the world. For the Colombian beauty queen, the mishap was a "great injustice."
For Gutierrez, it has been very hard for her and it has truly been a great shock because it is a dream she fought for. She said she has always dreamed of being Miss Universe and the mishap was very humiliating for her.
According to Gutierrez, she laughed when Harvey took the stage to reveal he had made a mistake because she thought it was a joke. She revealed that the comedian "did things like that" in the rehearsals.
"There are a thousand ways to do things," Gutierrez commented. "They could have done it, I don't know, the next day in a press conference or a press release. They did not do things the right way."
On the other hand, Gutierrez admitted that because of the Miss Universe 2015 mishap, several opportunities to work in the United States have come up and bob offers are pouring in.
Among those who supported Gutierrez was her fellow Colombian Sofia Vergara, who was spotted in O'Brien's in West Hollywood for the celebration of her husband Joe Manganiello's 39th birthday on Dec. 28, 2015, Daily Mail reported.
