"Days of Our Lives" (DOOL) episodes airing in the week of Jan. 4 - 8, 2016 sees the aftermath of New Year's day tragedy. Our Salem City heroes are struggling to survive while the truth about the accident is revealed. Meanwhile, one beloved Salemite succumbs to his injuries and leaves his loved ones mourning forever. The car accidents leaves Jennifer, Eric, Daniel and Brady injured. According to We Love Soaps and Soap Central, the four Salemites are immediately rushed to the Salem University Hospital where they are treated for their injuries. It is soon discovered that Daniel is no more and the devastating news brings family and friends together. Nicole's world comes crumbling down when she finds out that her fiancé is dead.
Meanwhile, Eric and Brady's condition is critical too. They both need a new heart. As for Maggie, she is forced to make the hard decision and decide who among Brady and Eric gets Daniel's heart.
Roman and Marlena discover the truth about the accident and what might have led to the destruction. They realise that Eric might be responsible for the fallout leading to the accident. Meanwhile, Theresa and Brady come together to support Brady. As for Nicole, she loses control and blasts Jennifer.
Chloe returns to Salem City when she learns the news of Daniel's death. Nicole, Chloe and Maggie mourn the death of Daniel and prepare to say their final goodbyes to him.
Elsewhere, Abigail contacts Chad and tell him about his son Thomas. At first, Chad is sceptical to accept the truth, but soon he realises that Abigail is right. Abigail and Chad reunite and they share a warm moment with their son. Meanwhile, Chad has a revenge plan to make Andre pay for taking Thomas and Abigail away from him.
Hope declares war against DiMeras and goes after Stefano. But Rafe may not be very happy with Hope's decision and intervenes. At the same time, Joey, Ciara, Claire, Chase and Theo party on New Year's Eve.
