Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has recently ruled out the rumored move of the Reds to bring Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to England as Barça's asking price of £20 million is deemed too high by the Premier League club.
Recent rumors have emerged that the 48-year-old German manager is keen on snagging his compatriot to Liverpool in an attempt to upgrade the Merseyside team's goalkeeping options.
Presently, Belgian goalie Simon Mignolet is the team's resident starter at the net with Hungarian Adam Bogdan and Scottish Ryan Fulton as main backups.
Liverpool has so far given up 24 goals in 20 games in the 2015-2016 Premier League season while scoring 22 goals of their own for a decent goal differential of -2. The team is currently drifting at the eighth spot of the league table.
However, Mirror reported that Klopp is reluctant to pay ter Stegen's £20 million transfer fee but he is willing to shell out £12 million for the German goal tender.
The £8 million difference is said to be crucial to making the deal push through or not as the Reds seem keen on not spending any more than the club could handle at this point in time.
The 23-year-old was acquired by Barça for £10 million in 2011 from Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach. He has a release clause amounting to up to £65 million, although both Barcelona and Liverpool are aware that the figure is unrealistic.
Ter Stegen had been a consistent starter for Luis Enrique's side these past few years, but lately Chilean goalie Claudio Bravo had been making the first team for the Catalonia giants.
The Liverpool Echo indicated that Klopp denied the team's rumored problems at the goalkeeping spot, saying that the team has "some problems at this moment but thank God not around the goalkeeper position so everything is okay".
"It's how I said plenty of time on the goalkeeper position and the situation is more than okay, we are satisfied," Klopp said.
