K-pop rookie group TWICE member Tzuyu is involved in a controversy, following rumours that she patronized Taiwan's independence from mainland China's governance.

It was a report written in the Korean Times dated Jan. 14, where it researched such event leading to the scandal.

As per a pro-China, Taiwanese-born vocalist Huan An, he insisted and made claims against the 16-year-old Taiwanese pop vocalist. This was delivered through social media posts as he based his accusations on a footage from different variety shows where Tzuyu waved both the Taiwanese and Korean flags.

The issue was antecedently directed through an agency post, where JYP Entertainment directly appealed to the subject with an official statement published on the official Weibo account of the agency on 14th January.

In Park Jin Young's Weibo statement, it says that Tzuyu is not in any form of Taiwanese independence speech and the opinion that Tzuyu has shown online support for Taiwanese independence is untrue. JYP Entertainment is approvingly supporting the precept of one-unilateral China.

He went on by regretting such misinterpretation that may have occurred on behalf of the company due to miscommunication with Chinese-speaking fans, and directed inciting feedbacks which were posted on Weibo.

To commemorate the Lunar New Year, K-pop TWICE was scheduled antecedently to perform in many of mainland China's programs. However, JYP has cancelled all promotional activities in the region until further notice.

The call-to-action by many Chinese defamers has ruled the ban of the K-pop rookie group on all major platforms.

According to a spokesperson of a yet-to-be-determined platform, JYP Entertainment is currently in a position where it should not ignore what government and the public are saying.

The scandal may seem uncommon to many Korean pop fans, but always Taiwanese entertainers are a topic of criticism, focused on perceived political activism.
