NBA News: Cavs To Host Chinese New Year Celebration At Quicken Loans Arena

The Cleveland Cavaliers will host an international theme night made specifically for fans who will watch live games in China.

According to the NBA's official website, the Cavs will present their first Chinese New Year celebration on Feb. 8 presented by ZTE against the visiting Sacramento Kings.

The Cavs' Chinese New Year celebration is part of the league-wide initiative to pay tribute to its largest international fan base, joining the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, and Washington Wizards in celebrating one of China's holiday season, which marks the first month and day of the Chinese lunar calendar.

The 2015 Eastern conference champs will also wear their first-ever Cavs branded Chinese New Year Celebration themed shooting shirts and will feature exclusive video content of an interview of the team's players who have traveled to China.

The NBA is the most watched professional sport in China and basketball is played by over 300 million people across the country, according to the report.

Cleveland, one of the most popular NBA clubs in the league because of star players like Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love, have one of the largest subscriber bases in the NBA on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, where Chinese Cavs fans can stay updated with the latest team news and information in their native language, Mandarin.

The NBA also released earlier this week a promotional video for the league's Chinese New Year celebration, which featured Warriors' Stephen Curry, Rockets' James Harden, and Jeremy Lin of the Charlotte Hornets.

In a media release reported by the Warriors World, the defending champions are among the teams who will wear Chinese New Year unis.

The Warriors will wear first wear the holiday themed jerseys on a road game against the Wizards on Feb. 3, and against the Rockets at the Oracle Arena on Feb. 9.
