"Norm of the North" concerns the exploits of a fun-favorite polar bear and his three lemming friends in their quest to save their Arctic home.

It is official that Splash Entertainment’s animated film “Norm of the North” will hit Chinese theaters soon.

According to Variety, Splash has made a deal with Chinese corporations Yang Yang Entertainment and Chinawood for an April trip in Greater China, including Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. While Yang Yang is an investor in the upcoming release, Chinawood will distribute the animated feature.

Canada's Silhouette Media Group brokered the deal. In addition, sales firm Good Universe has represented the movie as sales agent and made deals for more than 70 regions.

The film launched in the United States on Jan. 15 via Lionsgate.

Talking in an interview with the same publication, Han Tao, the chairman of Yang Yang, said: "'Norm of the North' is full of happiness animation. We have great confidence for its performance in China."

The story arc concerns the exploits of a fun-favorite polar bear and his three lemming friends in their quest to save their Arctic home. Journeying to New York City, they take on the city, big business, and a huge identity problem to save the day from a maniacal land developer.

A major problem and social media issue in China is forced land appropriation by city administrators and private property developers.

According to Splash co-CEO Mike Young: "To date, 'Norm of the North' has been sold to more than 70 countries around the world. Now with Chinawood as a partner, along with Yang Yang Pictures as a major investor, we are confident that 'Norm of the North' will continue to climb the box office with record numbers in China."

Yang Yang Entertainment is based in Wuxi and includes Vapor Film Co. Ltd. in Wuxi (National) Digital Film Industrial Park and Hollywood (China) Digital Arts R & D Center as its associates.
