Xbox One vs. PS4 sales: Sony sold more than 37 million PS4 consoles while Microsoft is mum about their sales figure

It is said that Sony recently announced that it has recorded a sale of 8.4 million PS4 in the third quarter of its 2015 fiscal year. Statistics revealed that the overall sales of the games unit reached $4.89 million during the period. It reflected an increase of 10.5 percent per year, International Business Times reported.

According to reports, Sony has been reported to have said that there was a decrease in the sales of PS3 hardware and software. It is also reported, GCO New has learned, that Sony has not revised the sales figure of PS4 for the quarter, after increasing the sales target of the PS4 consoles from 14.8 million to 17.5 million for the fiscal year 2015. Sony said that their outlook was based on the increased network sales.

The latest news is that, prior to the earning's report placed by Sony, Microsoft has already released the results of their 2nd quarter of fiscal year 2016. Although the sales figures for Xbox One was not disclosed by Microsoft, the company revealed that there are 48 million active Xbox Live users as of this date. Last figures that were disclosed by Microsoft in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2015 stood at 1.4 million in sales.

Microsoft did not disclose the sales figures of the Xbox Live in spite of the holiday season being a strong one, when Xbox Live featured impressive exclusives and bundles such as "Rise of the Tomb Raider" and "Halo 5: Guardians."
