Apple iPhone 2016 release rumors roundup: Pink iPhone 5SE & AMOLED-laced iPhone 7 with ceramic back panel in the works?

Rumors have it that the upcoming 4-inch iPhone 5SE will unbox with nearly the same killer features packed with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, including the Rose Gold color option. And that the iPhone 7 on release date will have a completely overhauled design and build.

While the latter speculation might prove correct, a Rose Gold 5SE is unlikely to materialize if a new report from Japan is to be believed. According to Japanese blog MacOtakara, Apple is indeed planning to offer the new compact iPhone in a pinkish variant but the actual hue is not anywhere near the new iPhone 6S color.

Instead, the iPhone 5SE will be more like the screaming pink that was already seen with the sixth iteration iPod Touch. The same report, first pointed to by MacRumors, also indicated that the 4-inch handset will be served in two more color flavors - Silver White and Space Gray.

As previously reported, the latest addition to the current batch of iPhone line up will begin rolling out April 2016, the blog report said, somehow lining up with the suggestion that the device will be revealed this coming March via Apple's scheduled news briefing.

And like the iPhone 6S, the 5SE will be more than sufficiently fired up by A9 mobile processing chip with up to 2GB of RAM plus full support for Apple Pay, thanks to the on-board NFC chip. It is highly likely too that Apple will deploy the smaller of the iPhones running on iOS 9.3.

But not the iPhone 7, which is believed for a grand debut all geared up for iOS 10 and A10 application processor. In a new report, Business Korea said that the next iPhone is protected on the back panel by ceramic with Super AMOLED fronting the display panel. The Korean news also claimed that the sequel to the iPhone 6S will enjoy full waterproofing and enhanced 3D Touch and Touch ID features.

The same report echoed the growing belief that with the complete makeover planned by Apple, the iPhone 7 will unpack minus the physical home button and 3.5mm audio jack.

As the iPhone 5SE will likely be introduced as early as next month, the wait for the simultaneous iPhone 7 and 7 Plus release date will be slightly longer as the flagships are not expected for introduction until September 2016.
