The release date of “Sense8” season 2 may be much sooner than you think. The cast and crew have already started filming for second season of the Netflix original series by mid-December, much earlier than their original March target.
Speaking to The Film Stage back in November, "Sense8" cinematographer John Troll shared that they were still working on fixing everyone's schedule. He revealed that they were eyeing to start shooting by March. Nevertheless, fans are still hoping that they will make it in time for the target June/August premiere.
It seems, however, that they are a month ahead of schedule. The cast has started shooting in mid-December. Aml Ameen (Capheus) and Tina Desai (Kala Dandekar) both confirmed via Twitter that they are already excited for what's to come in the second season of the Netflix series. Jamie Clayton (Nomi Marks) also shared that she already has the copy for the third episode of the series.
Showrunner J. Michael Straczynski, however, insisted that it was only a separate shoot for them to grab footage during the holiday. Contrary to speculations, it was not the start of "Sense8" season 2. Early this week, Motion Picture Capital, via its official Twitter account, confirmed that the filming for "Sense8" season 2 is already on its way. In the last week of January, Atmosphere Casting also called for extras, which will act as pedestrian and park goers. Several outlets spotted the cast and crew shooting in the Andersonville neighborhood.
While not much is known about the plot of "Sense8" season 2, it has long been rumored that it will focus on Wolfgang-Kala-Rajan love triangle. Kala will allegedly develop a strong connection with Wolfgang which will ultimately destroy Rajan.
In an interview with The News Hub, Purab Kohli, who plays Rajan Rasal in the series, admitted that his character seemed "too good to be true" at times. Although he hoped that fans will get to see a darker side of him in the second season, Kohli said that he had full faith in the Wachowskis.
"I'm a selfish actor, so if it were left to me I would make the whole story centred around Rajan [laughs]," he jokingly added.
