On Apple's iPad Pro is the USB 3 capable Lightning port, which can be used to charge up to 29 watts. Certainly, it equals the capacity of an Apple 12-inch MacBook; however, the USB 3 Lightning cables are not yet offered in the market; hence, there is no power that can be utilized for now.

The hardware regulatory information for the iPad Pro unveils that the 12.9-inch tablet can utilize 14.5 volts at 2 amps, which is equal to 29 watts. However, for the iPad Pro, only a 12-watt power adapter is shipped.

Apple is shipping a 29-watt power adapter for its 12-inch MacBook with Retina display, but this light and thin notebook supplies over a more competent USB 3 cable offering a USB-C port.

For the Lightning cable shipped with the iPad Pro, it is only restricted to load around 12 watts, with a full-size USB Type-A 2.0 port at the other end.

As for now, it is impossible to immediately charge the iPad Pro with a MacBook 29-watt power adapter, as no USB 3 Lightning cables are sold in the market.

There is no third-party maker allowed by Apple to innovate Lightning to USB-C cables that supply charging and synchronizing of an iPad or iPhone immediately to a 12-inch MacBook. As per Apple Insider, a negotiator from a major Apple accredited accessory has affirmed that Lightning to USB-C cables will not comply with the Apple's existing requirements.

The incorporation of a Fresco Logic USB controller is responsible for the fast charging capacity hidden within the iPad Pro. It provides USB 3.0 bandwidth on four of its different ports.

Currently, Apple offers only one USB 3 Lightning accessory, which is an SD card reader that furnishes quick transfer speeds for an iPad Pro. Nevertheless, no accredited Lightning to USB 3 cable is yet available for speedy charging or syncing.
