Microsoft will roll out the ‘Call of Duty – Black Ops 3 Awakening’ DLC 1 for Xbox One on March 3.

Microsoft will roll out a new DLC for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Awakening" for Xbox One in March 2016. The new DLC will feature the snowy terrains of Zurich, in addition to four maps supporting multiplayer mode. These maps include Splash, Gauntlet, Skyjacked and Rise.

While the first DLC of the season for the first person shooter video game "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Awakening" will be available for Xbox One players from March 3, the date for releasing the content for PC is yet to be finalized, Microsoft announced on its Xbox Store.

"The season begins with DLC 1 'Awakening,' releasing on 3/3. Get 4 all-new MP maps: Skyjacked, Splash, Rise and Gauntlet, taking players from the snowy outskirts of Zurich to a colorful abandoned water theme park," Microsoft stated about the upcoming DLC. In addition to the next chapter in Zombies, the DLC will have an eerie medieval castle as the background. Fans will also see the Origins cast of Richtofen, Nicolai, Dempsey and Takeo  continuing from where The Giant left off on a mission to stop the Zombie Apocalypse.

Microsoft made the announcement for months after it released the title on PlayStation 4, as there was an exclusivity agreement between the developer Activision Blizzard and Sony, IB Times reported. Moreover, some content from the upcoming "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Awakening" DLC have not been made available on Xbox 360, as Treyarch, the American video game developer, created this game in a different way from what the game's previous developers Beenox and Mercenary Technology did.

Meanwhile, Activision announced in January the more than 250 million copies of the "Call of Duty" were sold worldwide till then. In fact, the sales of "Call of Duty" surpassed those of "Star Wars," "Grand Theft Auto," and even "Fallout 4." Rob Kostich, general manager of "Call of Duty" franchise, claimed in a statement that the series was not only ahead of other games worldwide in terms of revenue earnings, but also the number of copies sold since the launch of the first game of the franchise, VG247 reported.

Kostich's claims were backed up by Eric Hirshberg, Activision Blizzard CEO, as saying that "Black Ops 3" was  the biggest entertainment launch of 2015,  even beating "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in its opening weekend. On a franchise basis, "Call of Duty" has surpassed 250 million units sold life-to-date worldwide with over $15bn in sell-in on full game and in-game content."
