Much to the delight of Xbox One games, Microsoft has eventually released "Rocket League," the soccer-meets-driving, sports-action hybrid that was only available on Sony's PlayStation 4 and Windows PC so far, for the console on Wednesday last. The game is now available for $19.99.
Although developer Psyonix confirmed "Rocket League" for Xbox One in December last and Microsoft has been officially accepting pre-orders for "Rocket League" through Xbox Store since last week, the game actually arrived on the console this week. The sports-action hybrid game has a lot of comparison to soccer, iDigital Times reported.
Generally, all the matches in this sports-action hybrid game are 3-on-3 affairs, with players trying to put a giant ball into the opposing team's goal. In order to score a goal, players are allowed to make only a few moves like a boost, roll move and short dash. In addition, matches are short; not lasting a little more than five minutes. The team scoring the maximum goals wins.
"Rocket League" can be played both online as well as offline. The offline season mode allows players to lead a team into the playoffs. Apart from the short duration matches, the game allows players to jump from one game to another almost instantly, which makes playing a complete 28-week season possible in just about three hours.
From the technical point of view, gamers, who have played "Rocket League" will find on PlayStation 4 or Windows PC, equally satisfying, both in online and offline modes. However, "Rocket League" on Xbox One has one major downside. While the PS4 and Windows PC version of the game allows players to play with one another simultaneously or vice versa, the Xbox One version does not offer cross-platform play.
On the other hand, every feature of the "Rocket League Game of the Year Edition" has been incorporated in "Rocket League" on Xbox One. These features include Revenge of the Battle-Cars, Supersonic Fury, and Chaos Run, which are automatically available when one downloads the game. These three content packs also bring in new vehicles, stadia, and customization options, GottabeMobile reported.
Earlier, these content packs were separately available on Steam and the PlayStation Store. In addition to the base game and add-on content, Xbox One owners buying the game will get 16 new cars. In addition, two more cars have been added to the game by Microsoft and Psyonix.
The different arenas for the game comprise Beckwith Park, DFH Stadium, Mannfield, Utopia Coliseum, Urban Station and Wasteland, which are available in standard configurations and based on various themes, making the game more interesting.
