Dave Bautista, 47, is one of the celebrities who recently voiced out their disappointment with the controversial remarks of Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, 37, against same-sex marriage. Known for being a former WWE superstar and for playing Drax in "Guardians of the Galaxy," Bautista is of Filipino and Greek descent.
In an interview with TMZ, Bautista called Pacquiao a "f-king idiot." It turned out that the same-sex marriage issue is something personal to the wrestler-turned-actor.
"My mom happens to be a lesbian so I don't f--king take that s-t," Bautista told the publication. "I don't think it's funny. If anyone called my mother an animal, I'd stick my foot in his a--."
In 2009, Bautista supported Pacquiao in his fight against British boxer Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand Las Vegas at Las Vegas, Nevada. Billed as "The Battle of East and West," the boxing match was won by the Filipino boxer.
Pacquiao is set to fight against Timothy Bradley, 32, for the third time on April 16. It will also mark the Filipino boxer's last fight as he is retiring as a boxer so he can focus on his political career in the Philippines.
"I am retiring from boxing to concentrate on my political career," Pacquiao told Yahoo in January. "My fight with Timothy Bradley will be my last."
On the other hand, Bautista is currently filming "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" reprising his role as Drax. The sequel is being directed by James Gunn and is set to be released on May 5, 2017.
Among Bautista's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" co-stars are Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Sean Gunn as Kraglin and Pom Klementieff as Mantis, among others. Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper will also voice Groot and Rocket, respectively.
Bautista is also set to star in the 2016 films "Warrior's Gate," "Bushwick," "Kickboxer: Vengeance" and "Marauders." Prior to this, he played Hinx in the 2015 film "Spectre," which starred Daniel Craig as James Bond.
