Natalie Dormer plays Margaery Tyrell in "Game of Thrones."

"Game of Thrones" star Natalie Dormer may have just slammed the fans of the hit HBO series.

In an interview with the Sunday Times' Culture magazine, the actress responded to comments saying that the show has gone too far when it comes to treating and representing women.

"All I know is that I turn on the news, and it's covering a boy drowning off the coast, or children being shown beheading videos. The horror of human nature is prevalent in our world, and I appreciate that some people want to turn on the telly for escapism - but if that's what you want, don't watch 'Game of Thrones,'" she said.

Dormer went on to say, "I choose fantasy to vent, to process complex political, sexual and social politics at the safe distance of fiction. For me, that's what art should be."

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old actress is not the only one who reacted to controversies surrounding the show's treatment and representation of women.

In July, Maisie Williams spoke with TIME to say that she hopes that fans will start looking at things from a different perspective.

"I feel like people are treated badly on it all the time - men, women, girls, boys... animals. The show is set in a time where women didn't have it easy. Women haven't had it good over history, like it's been a pretty sh*t time for us. And like a lot of other fantasy, the show takes on controversial topics," she said.

While speaking with MTV News, Williams said that critics should start looking at things from a bigger picture.

"I think it should be taken as a series as a whole, and not just particular scenes that are particularly offensive to people," she said.

In other news, "Game of Thrones" season 6 will see how Arya (Williams) will adjust to her recent blindness.

According to IBTimes, Arya's blindness was only temporary in the books, but it seems it will be permanent on the show.

As of late, it is still unclear how long Arya will be blind, but a promo photo for the hit HBO series showed her begging on the streets.

"Game of Thrones" season 6 will return to HBO on Apr. 24.
