Kevin Spacey plays President Frank Underwood in Netflix's "House of Cards," which is expected to start its fifth season in March 2017.

Ellen Burstyn, who will be playing the character of Claire Underwood's mother, will steal the show in "House of Cards" season 4.

Critics who saw the first hour of the show revealed to Baltimore Sun that she may prove to be a delightful surprise for the viewers. It is quite natural to think of Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Michael Kelly as being the main characters of the show. However, Burstyn's role is given more weight than any other character in the upcoming season.

David Fincher, who is the executive producer of the show, and who also directed the first two episodes of season 1, recently announced the casting of Burstyn to the press. According to  Entertainment Weekly, character showrunner Beau Willimon was very adamant on casting Burstyn for this role. Burstyn is shown as a country gal, who is far more strong hearted than her daughter.

Even though Burstyn  is being appreciated even before the release of the show, viewers can be assured that there is absolutely no shortage of the First Lady's role in the upcoming season. It is being said that Robin Wright and Burstyn are superb together.

Both of them bring out the best in each others acting skills, which might prove to be the highest point of "House of Cards" Season 4. Neve Campbell, who will be playing a Texas-based political consultant, will also join the list of extremely talented ladies on the show. Cicely Tyson, who plays a Texas congresswoman, will be stepping down after a long run and will hand her district to her daughter.

In other "House of Cards" spoilers, Frank Underwood will be visiting the Smithsonian, and he will reflect back of what he was and what he is now. Spacey said that this scene was a real blur between reality and fiction for him.

Meanwhile, there are also speculations that the ghost of Zoe Barynes will haunt him in this season. The President may also be sentenced for the murder of Peter Russo. "House of Cards" season 4 will premiere on March 4, on Netflix.
