David and Ashley from "Married At First Sight" season 3

The latest episode of “Married At First Sight” Season 3 saw David and Ashley deciding to file for a divorce after the social experiment. While this did not come as a surprise to many “MAFS” viewers, given that the couple has definitely struggled throughout their marriage, David admitted that he was a little blindsided by Ashley’s decision in the finale.

In an interview with New York Post, David claimed that the main reason why their marriage did not work out was Ashley's lack of attraction towards him. In the last episode, he told his wife that he was willing to give their relationship another chance after the cameras stopped rolling. Turns out, however, Ashley did not feel the same way.

David insisted that being physically attracted to someone was a very big deal for Ashley. Given that she did not feel that way towards him was apparently a clear sign that their marriage will never work out.

"I tried to be patient and show her that there is more to a partner than looks, but for some reason, she couldn't get past it," he explained.

By the way Ashley treated David during the entire "Married At First Sight" season 3, he admitted that he was not surprised by his decision. He shared that in the past six weeks that they have been together, Ashley was unable to get past the fact that he was not her "ideal guy."

While some "MAFS" fans pointed out that perhaps Ashley was still upset that David "cheated" on her by asking another female out for drinks behind her back, he insisted that it had nothing to do with it. He pointed out that Ashley was actually looking for a way out even before they had the huge fight.

When asked why the marriage did not work out, Ashley explained that there were a lot of things she had to consider. Unfortunately, she could not list them down which only made David even more sure that she did not want him in the first place.

"It was at that moment I realized that the marriage would never work. Maybe we could have gotten past my message mess-up or the fact I wasn't physically her type, but we really didn't try," he said.

"Marriage at First Sight" Season 3 airs Tuesdays on FYI.
