Reports suggest that Dead "Avatar" characters Grace Augustine, Weaver and Miles Quaritch may be coming back for "Avatar 2."
Director James Cameron confirmed to Deadline in an interview that they are indeed bringing back the memorable character of Col. Quaritch, which has been enacted by Stephen Lang.
Cameron said that, "Steven was so memorable in the first film, we're privileged to have him back. I'm not going to say exactly how we're bringing him back, but it's a science fiction story, after all." Cameron also confirmed that Quaritch will not be present in the second sequel but in the next three sequels as well.
It is also reported that all the main characters of "Avatar" will be reprising their roles in the first sequel. Also, Sam Worthington will be coming back for "Avatar 2."
In an interview to Montreal Gazette, director James Cameron had said that December 2017 was the target release date for the movie. He had even said that he planned that "Avatar 3" release may happen by Dec. 2018. However, now the release date of "Avatar 2" and its subsequent sequels is postponed till further notice.
The film was pushed back earlier in order to give way for the "Star Wars: Episode VIII." The film makers reportedly said that they were trying to avoid a clash of the two big-budget films and ensure a dedicated audience for the upcoming film.
On the other hand, there are also rumors that the real reason behind the delay is the technology that Cameron wants to use for the movie. The current technology is not capable of completing the movie on time. However, despite of all the interruptions, Cameron is pretty eager to commence the production of this movie from April 2016.
The director also announced that he will be releasing instalments on a yearly basis of the film series, which will be starting with "Avatar 2." The director also stated that the three sequels of this sci-fi series will be meta-narrative. Each of the films are capable of standing on their own in terms of storyline. However, this does not mean that they are not inter-related to each other.
The upcoming movie is all set to feature the story of Jake and Neytiri. The crew members are said to be using advance computer graphics in order to capture the the alien world of Pandora.
Additionally, this movie will be shown in a 3D environment, so they cannot afford to make any mistakes. Similar to the first move, the fans are expecting to see some amazing graphics and action in the upcoming instalments of "Avatar."
