"The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" fans have been clamoring for more crossovers this season.

Just recently, a crossover episode aired on The CW which showed Stefan (Paul Wesley) going to New Orleans, and talking to Klaus (Joseph Morgan).

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7, episode 14 also paved the way for Klaus and Caroline (Candice Accola-King) to have a conversation over the phone.

Following Friday night's episode, "The Vampire Diaries" received its highest ratings for the season.

This means that if more crossovers will be featured on the show, this could definitely help boost the show's success.

Meanwhile, according to Hypable, there are several reasons why "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" should have more crossovers in the future.

For one, it's highly possible that both shows share the same villain. If this will be revealed to the case, then it's easier to see the characters from each of the shows crossover to the other.

Additionally, some couples have been featured on both "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals."

For instance, Klaus and Caroline were once an item, and a scene that showed them talking on the phone worked because they have a very distinct connection in the past.

Lastly, the publication is suggesting that a crossover makes it seem as though fans are watching a movie that doesn't have any commercials.

Since there are so many stories that need to be told, fans are left on the edge of their seats with every single reveal.

However, it's important to also be cautious when it comes to crossovers because if they are done frequently, there's a huge chance fans will lose interest in watching them.

In other news, the upcoming episode of "The Vampire Diaries" will see Stefan and Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) finding an herb that can help them hide from the vampire huntress Rayna (Leslie-Anne Huff).

"Bonnie makes a discovery that thwart's Damon's plan to take Rayna down; Stefan questions his future with Caroline; Matt decides it may be time to take a real stand against vampires," the synopsis for "I Would For You" read.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 airs Fridays on The CW.
