CEO of Supercell Iikka Paananen announced exciting news for arguably the company's most popular game of all time - "Clash of Clans." Paananen sent out an official statement in March 7 via Twitter confirming that the popular mobile game recorded over 100 million active players daily.
"100 million! it blows my mind to think of that many people playing our games all around the world, every single day. I want to thank every single one of them: from Albania to zimbabwe and everwhere else in between. Wish we had someone from Tuvalu" read a part of Paananens press release.
It is said that 100 million daily players is an impressive feat especially for a game on a mobile platform. According to GamingBolt.com, "Clash of Clans" earns $654,000 every day from the staggering number of its players. Because "Clash of Clans" is generally a "free to play" game with options for in-app purchases, its daily profits are all the more impressive.
"Clash of Clans," which was developed by Finnish mobile game developer Supercell, debuted on iOS merely four years ago and on Android three years ago. The game, which is classified as a massively multiplayer online game, involved a player building a base, training its troops and attacking other players in order to earn gold, elixir or dark elixir. These prizes are then used in order to improve the base and train the troops further.
The game has been rated favorably by several aggregator sites including Metacritic and GameRankings. On Gamezebo "Clash of Clans" holds an impressive rating of 4.5 out 5 stars. Gamezebo reviewer Leif Johnson praised the game for its simplicity, which he argue to be its strongest characteristic.
Supercell has since released several games, following the success of "Clash of Clans." The game development company has also created several other popular mobile games like "Hay Day" and "Boom Beach."
Meanwhile, Supercell's most recent release, "Clash Royale," was made available for download in January 2016 to selected countries including Canada, Hong Kong and New Zealand. In March 3, "Clash Royale" has been available for download for both iOS and Android across the globe.
