‘Goodbye Mr. Loser’ Gets 5 Awards at Gold Aries Macau International Filmfest

The title of the winner of the most awards in the recently concluded Gold Aries Award Macau International Film Festival belies what happened on Tuesday. That’s because “Goodbye Mr. Loser” was the festival’s biggest winner, bagging five awards.

The film was one of the box office hits of 2015 in China, until "The Mermaid" broke all records when it was shown on Chinese Lunar New Year and breached the 3 billion yuan mark. "Goodbye Mr. Loser" is a movie about a middle-aged man who passes out drunk and dreamt of travelling back to the past to go after the woman he loves.

According to Hollywood Reporter, “Goodbye Mr. Loser” grossed $142.1 million after 12 days of exhibition, based on data from Engroup, an analysis company. But Wikipedia reported its total box office reached $228.5 million.

The comedy film starred Shen Teng, Ma Li, Yin Zheng, Ai Lun, Wang Zhi, Tian Yu, Song Yang, Chang Yuan and Li Ping and was released on Sept. 30, 2015.

However, the best actor and actress awards went to performers from other films. Qin Hao, a Chinese actor, was recognized for his acting chops in “Blind Message,” while two Chinese actresses, Jiang Qingqin and Song Jia, shared the award for their roles in “A Fool” and “The Master.”

“The Master” was the best film, while Lou Ye, who megged “Blind Message” was the best director, reported China Daily.
