Known for playing Samwell Tarly in "Game of Thrones" since 2011, John Bradley-West, 27, recently talked about the male nudity in the HBO series. It appears that the Manchester Metropolitan School of Theatre graduate does not want to see more naked men in the show.
"I can only answer this question from my very unique standpoint," Express quoted Bradley-West as saying at a recent press conference in London. He explained that he just does not think naked men have "the same aesthetic appeal."
"I don't think you can light them as well," Bradley-West added. "I think there's all sorts of hair and stuff that plays a part in it."
The actor further discussed equality on screen and pointed out that there is enough and even lots of naked men on TV. For him, a man without a top on is nude since if a woman without her top on is nudity so bare-chested Dothraki men are considered nude.
Aside reprising his role as Samwell Tarly in "Game of Thrones" Season 6, which premieres on April 24 on HBO, Bradley-West is also set to star in "Patient Zero." The action-drama-horror film set to hit theaters on Sept. 2 also stars Stanley Tucci, Clive Standen and Natalie Dormer, among others.
Among the new actors joining the cast of "Game of Thrones" Season 6 is Ian McShane, 73. Details about the character he is playing are still kept under wraps although he recently shared some clues about the character resurrecting another character many viewers thought was already dead.
"You say the slightest thing and the internet goes ape," Telegraph quoted McShane as saying. He said he was disappointed that he was accused of giving the plot away and noted that "Game of Thrones" is "only tits and dragons."
According to McShane, he was happy when he was asked to do "Game of Thrones" because he would reunite with his friends Charles Dance and Stephen Dillane. However, he was surprised to find out that their respective characters Tywin Lannister and Stannis Baratheon had been killed off.
