T-Mobile testing Android Marshmallow update for Samsung Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge; Verizon and AT&T to follow suit soon

Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A was released in 2014 with Android 4.4.2 KitKat and now it is getting Android Marshmallow.

Network carrier T-Mobile is currently testing the Android Marshmallow update for devices Samsung Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge and a release seems imminent.

According to T-Mobile support page, the carrier is testing out their update for various high-end devices such as HTC One M9, LG G4, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 and Nexus 9 alongwith various Samsung flagship smartphones. T-Mobile is expected to release the update by the end of March or in the first half of April.

Network carrier Sprint is already ahead of the race, as it has released the Android Marshmallow update for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. AT&T had also committed to a delivery schedule in March, but it has failed to keep up to the promise. On the other hand, Verizon has not yet made any comment on when it plans to release the update to the users of Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

It is also rumored that AT&T and Verizon could speed up their development and testing phase of Android Marshmallow and may release the update much before T-Mobile. Various network carriers in Canada have also released the update for their users. 

Meanwhile, Sony Xperia Z series devices are also expected to receive the Android Marshmallow in the coming days. It has already been released for Sony Xperia Z5 but the users are reporting numerous bugs and glitches. Sony has been proactive and has already released a patch for the same.

Android Marshmallow comes with a totally customizable System UI Tuner, with which the users will now be able to add their favourite icons in the drop down tray, according to BGR. This will make the device to the show the info which only the users want to see.

Users will now be able to display a personalised message on the locked screen. The support for finger print scanner is also incorporated post the Android Marshmallow update. Features like the Doze mode and the intelligent Google Now on Tap clearly show how advanced the Android operating system has come.
