Gwen Stefani emulates Taylor Swift and Adele: Eschews Spotify on her way to score first album on Billboard charts [VIDEO]

Gwen Stefani follows the footsteps of Taylor Swift and Adele to eschew Spotify.

Gwen Stefani has emulated her fellow female pop stars Adele and Taylor Swift by eschewing Spotify, the top music streaming service. As a result, Stefani is now set to follow their chart success since she is in the process of scoring her first No. 1 album on the Billboard charts.

Although Stefani will not stream her new album, "This Is What The Truth Feels Like," on Spotify, the pop star's disc is available for streaming on Apple Music and Tidal. Stefani excluded Spotify because of their free tier, which most subscribers of the service listen to, and which offers little compensations for artists.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek recently said that the company has attained a notable milestone by amassing 30 million subscribers on the paid tier, according to Variety. With over 100 million subscribers, still over 70 million subscribers would get Stefani's new album free of charge.

Taylor Swift and Adele had the same disputes, which made them decide not to stream their latest albums on Spotify. Still, both singers' albums subsequently hit No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 Album chart in their first week of release.

Seemingly, Stefani's Spotify snub has not hurt her either, and she may indeed be on the way to have her very first No. 1 album on the chart. The collection is projected to hit about 80,000 album equivalent sales for its first week release, according to Billboard, something that should be sufficient to put the former lead singer of "No Doubt" at the top. The 2004 premiere, "Love. Angel. Music. Baby." and the 2006 "The Sweet Escape" ranked No. 5 and 3 respectively.

The latest album includes the widely acclaimed first single, "Used To Love You," which gave a new perspective into the singer's emotions after she broke up with Gavin Rossdale. Reportedly, the pop star poured her heart and soul into the entire album.
