| Mar 29, 2016 11:16 PM EDT

Google is believed to be working on the successors of Nexus 5x and Nexus 6 P, dubbed the HTC Nexus M1 and S1.

More clues are emerging hinting the imminent Google Nexus 7 2016 release date as previous Nexus devices keep receiving discounts from retailers.

This time Nexus 6P and Nexus 9 received generous discounts from resellers. A 32GB version of the Google Nexus 6P was spotted in Amazon India with a slashed price. Since earlier this month, the current flagship smartphone got discounts from various sellers.

Moreover, there are also a lot of HTC Nexus 9 deals that can be found online. The latest discount was offered by Amazon to the 32GB variant of the device for only $299, which is the lowest so far. Last week, the same tablet was given for free by HTC to buyers of HTC One M9.

Slashing the price of devices eclipsing its first birthday is a strong education of the release of its successor. Reports say that this is HTC's strategy in exhausting the remaining stocks of both devices as the company will release the next generation of the said devices. HTC confirmed that the company this year's flagship phone will be revealed on Apr. 10 and will be available two days later.

Meanwhile, Google reportedly partnered with the Taiwanese mobile manufacturer in making the next Nexus smartphone or tablet. Although the Redmond-based tech giant has not announced the official release date of the device, speculations claimed that Nexus 7 2016 release is rumored to happen in May and will use the company's annual I/O Developers' Conference as its launching platform. However, other rumors claim that the device will be released in October.

Google Nexus 7 2016 is either a tablet or a phablet and will allegedly pack the same, old 7-inch screen display. It will be powered by NVIDIA Tegra X1 processor paired with 4GB of RAM.

Most rumors point that the Google Nexus 7 2016 will be a tablet with premium build and revolutionary features optimized for maximum productivity. Reports added that the tablet will come with features thanks to pure Android N operating system. The tablet will be marketed to professionals and businesses, which productivity is of utmost importance.

However, there is still no official announcement from Google about the official release date and features of the rumored Google Nexus 2016.
