Rumored real NX controller rectangular not oval, scroll wheel shoulder buttons: anonymous NX developer

Crowds line up to view the new Nintendo game console Wii U at the Nintendo booth during the Electronic Entertainment Expo on June 7, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.

Rumor has it that the real NX controller will have a rectangular shape and it has scroll wheel shoulder buttons. The anonymous NX developer claimed that they are working with the real controller for the next Nintendo console.

The rumor came from a post on Reddit by an anonymous NX developer, who released the information about the controller. The poster did not put any pictures and did not reveal what studio he or she was working for, but released some description of the controller that they are developing currently for the upcoming Nintendo console. He also confirmed that the previously rumored image of the controller was a fake.

The anonymous developer specified that the new controller will have a rectangular shape and not an oval one, or not even close to the current Wii U gamepad. It has physical buttons like any other controller, but there will be a screen behind those. It will also have scroll wheel shoulder buttons and the common shoulder ones.

The supposed NX controller will also have a headphone jack just like what the Dual Shock 4 and the Xbox One controllers have. What it will not have is a form-shifting screen or a touch screen that has feedback, which was seen in the previous fake Nintendo NX controller image.

The actual NX games will not be playable on the controller and it is not meant to substitute the 3DS, according to the developer. The Sega Dreamcast's VMU has what he compared it with, which users can bring outside of the gaming area.

The developer also said that no one outside Nintendo really knows what the real name of the console is and they just call it the NX. He added that it will not be backwards compatible, so Wii and Wii U games will not work with this one.

Some posters on Reddit believe the developer, but this is still a rumor because the company has not confirmed this, according to Geek. Some of the posters are giving their own theories for the NX controller. Nintendo has not given any statement to confirm or deny this rumor.
