‘GTA 6’ release date rumors, news, updates: Game slated for a release between 2018 and 2020 with new features [VIDEO]

“GTA 6” is Rockstar Games' rumored sequel to GTA 5 that will likely be released for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

While there is no official confirmation from game developer Rockstar, rumors are circulating the internet that a follow-up sequel to "GTA 5" is in the works. Furthermore, it is rumored that the upcoming game will offer an improved gaming experience that will blend well with the current generation consoles.

"GTA 5" first launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013 before releasing on PS4 and Xbox One in November 2014. The release of the game on PC came later in April 2015.

With regard to the upcoming game, "GTA 6," there are speculations that the developer company is using advanced technology, which requires improved graphics and hardware performance for the consoles. As a result, the next generation consoles including PS5 and Xbox Two will be launched just in time with the game's official release. According to Neurogadget, "GTA 6" may come out sometime between 2018 and 2020.

The same publication noted that players have always wished to explore bigger and new locations in the next open world shooter games. Rockstar has been listening to suggestions from fans, and it is rumored to consider changing the game setting outside the United States.

Previous reports teased that Tokyo would be the likely location for "GTA 6," but the idea changed later with Nevada or Colombia being the likely locations for the video game. Gamers as well anticipate to see a new and wider variety of characters to choose from in the upcoming game.

"GTA 6" precursors had three male characters, including Trevor, Michael, and Franklin. Now, there are rumors that the upcoming installment will feature a female character, voiced by Hollywood actress Eva Mendes. Although Rockstar had initially indicated that it would be unlikely to add a female personality, Rockstar President Leslie Benzie unveiled via Develop that the company has put in a fair amount of ideas.

In an interview with the publication, the president said, "We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don't know what GTA 6 will be, but we've got some ideas." 

Besides the virtual reality layer that would accompany the game, further rumors indicate that "GTA 6" may in fact include more weapons and increase number of missions, which depend on the sky as opposed to land, since players appear to have taken a liking to the flight aspects of "GTA."
