The new Nexus 5X phone is displayed during a Google media event on September 29, 2015 in San Francisco, California.

As Google's 2016 I/O in May approaches speculations further rise that the revelation of the Nexus 2016 family of devices will be part of the program and the release date will immediately follow. Two new evidences just surfaced that seemingly support such rumors - the LG Nexus 5X is on sale while Android N appears all geared up for wider release.

The cheaper of the Nexus 2015 handsets saw its regular price trimmed down even more as 9to5Toys reported that over at eBay, courtesy of seller 232tech, the LG-built Nexus 5X now sells for only $230. Compared with other online outlets, the eBay price offers the most savings as Google Play Store still displays the phone at $349 while Amazon's is $100 plus pricier.

The deal is the best yet for the Pure Android smartphone, which unboxes with a 5.2-inch display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, 2700mAh battery and most of the 2015 smartphone standard features - USB Type-C port for fast charging and fingerprint scanner that only provides increased device security but also more convenience.

And like its Nexus 6P counterpart, this Google signature phone is rocking the latest Android Marshmallow build that is readily upgradable as soon as the next Android is out.

Talking about the next Android, 9to5Google is reporting that the developer preview stage of Android N seems to be accelerating, which suggests that the Google mobile operating system could finalize soon and see an earlier release. The development points to a Nexus 2016 rollout that could happen anytime.

The same report indicated that the Android Developer Preview is expanding its coverage soon, meaning the testing of the OS' beta build will not be limited to Nexus devices only but also to select Android handsets. Google, however, has yet to say a word on the subject.

Regardless, the signs seen so far appear to speak volume that preparations are underway for the next Nexus and Android launch. The ongoing sales involving both the Nexus 5X and 6P somehow tell that Google and its retail partners are speeding up the process of clearing old Nexus stocks purportedly to make way for fresh shipments.

And Android N, which is expected to run first on the upcoming Nexus smartphones and tablets, is steadily on its way to completion. The expectation is Google will use the 2016 I/O to intro version 7.0 of Android then a release date will take place soon after - either for the Nexus 7 2016 tab that Huawei is rumored to make or for the Nexus 2016 phones that likely will come out of HTC's production lines.
