David Ferrer has once again defended his friend Rafael Nadal from doping allegations, insisting that it's impossible for the former world's no.1 to cheat the sport he loves so much by using performance enhancing drugs.

Ferrer, who will be competing with Nadal and other elite men's singles players at the Monte Carlo Masters, had an interview with Radio Marca, [via Ube Tennis] where he discussed the doping allegation hurled by the former French sports minister Roselyn Bachelot to Nadal.

According to Ferrer, Nadal has all the right to sue Bachelot, whom he described as someone trying to diminish the hard work put in by the Spaniard throughout his career. The Valencian netter added that Nadal handled the situation well by not getting the French people involved in the controversy.

Doping allegation against Nadal resurfaced in the wake of Maria Sharapova's admission that she failed a drug test at the Australian Open. While it isn't the first time someone made a bold comment about Nadal and his possible association with PED, the Spaniard team has had enough of 'baseless accusation' as they are now bringing the fight to the court.

Again when asked if he thinks Nadal is going to win another Grand Slam title despite his struggle to get back to his old form, Ferrer said he has no doubts the Mallorcan Bull will rise again and be a force to reckon with in major tournaments.

Then again, Ferrer recognizes the fact the road to a Grand Slam title will be a lot tougher as long as Novak Djokovic continue to play at a high level.

The Serb is once again on a torrid pace this season, as he already bagged four titles - including the 2016 Australian Open title. Ferrer believes Djokovic has really built a gap from the rest of the competitors and it's all up to them to improve and beat him at some point. Still, there's no doubt in Ferrer's mind that it has been Djokovic's golden era the past two years.
