Visitors checked HTC mobile phones at the Mobile World Congress on February 23, 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.

The newly-announced HTC 10 corrects the weaknesses of HTC One M9 which was claimed to look very similar to One M7 and One M8. With sculpture and chisel on its all-aluminum body, it projects a premium look. The Taiwanese tech titan even dropped the "One" and "M" which have been with the naming convention of its flagship devices. The smartphone also has a home button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor.

HTC 10 comes with a 5.2-inch super LCD 5 quad HD 2560 x 1440 pixels or 564 ppi resolution screen. It has the most recent 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset in its internals, with the Adreno 530 graphics processing unit, 4GB of DDR4 RAM, 32GB expandable internal storage with a microSD card of up to 2TB and a 3000mAh battery that can do Quick Charge 3.0 but not wireless charging due to the metal case.

HTC brings the sound and camera features to the next level. The BoomSound dual front-facing speakers are replaced with the new BoomSound Hi-Fi package that is enhanced by Dolby. The phone has a woofer on the bottom and an earpiece with a tweeter for a full sound spectrum experience.

In the camera department, HTC packs the 10 with a 12MP new generation unit that ties with Samsung's Galaxy S7 series with a score of 88 in DxOMark, a way to gauge a camera's image and video quality. It is an UltraPixels unit with optical image stabilization, dual-tone LED flash, f/1.8 aperture and laser focus. HTC 10's selfie camera is of 5MP, has autofocus, OIS and f/1.8 aperture.

In its review of the HTC 10 handset, the software in 10 felt clean, especially the Sense interface, Engadget said. It feels closer to Android, though HTC's touches are not completely gone such as the BlinkFeed.

Meanwhile, the new smartphone by HTC is coming to Canada and will be available only through Bell, and in Glacier Silver. An unlocked version of the handset Carbon Grey or Glacier Silver is available at the HTC online store for $999 CAD.

A discount of $100 will be enjoyed when using promo code HTCCA1008 during pre-order of the handset on the HTC site, Android Headlines reported. The unlocked HTC 10 is compatible with Bell, Rogers, Koodo, Telus, Fido, Wind Mobile, Sasktel, Videotron and Virgin Mobile. The HTC 10 on the Bell website is currently indicated as coming soon though the page already has the handset's specs and features but there is no specific price, delivery date and pre-orders yet.
