More Chinese mobile users are subscribing to the 4G technology.

China Mobile is already developing 5G technology, after the success of 4G. A senior executive of the said tech giant said it is time for the next generation of mobile Internet.

Xi Guohua, the chairman of the board for China Mobile, announced during the 13th China Enterprise Development Forum that 5G technology might be rolled out soon.

The forum was held by the Development Research Center of the State Council and was designed to report the business landscape and environment that public, private, as well as micro businesses could expect for the year.

The announcement by China Mobile suggested that the company is trying to maintain its leading position even with the business uncertainties that all enterprises are currently facing. China Mobile itself is experiencing heated competition from the other two telecom service providers in the country and has to keep innovating. However, Xi Guohua stopped with the announcement of the 5G without providing more details.

China Mobile performed better than its competitors China Unicom and China Telecom in the 4G race. China Mobile received official approval to launch services based on TD-LTE standard back in 2013.

The other two tech giants were only able to launch the same services around six months after, providing China Mobile a head start. This headstart allowed it to have 90 million 4G subscribers based on 2014 data.

Even though there are no definite figures released for the two rival companies, media reports claimed that the two did not come close to China Mobile's number and performance.
