Prince William and Harry recently visited "Star Wars: Episode VIII" film set, and got to "tussle" with light sabers, admitting their enthusiasm for the "Star Wars" saga. The two royals also met with Luke Skywalker himself (Mark Hamill) and could not hide their excitement when they did.
The duke of Cambridge had been welcomed in his capacity as the president of Bafta, and his brother Prince Harry decided to tag along. However, the duchess of Cambridge did not manage to catch up with the two, and instead, opted to remain at home with the children.
"Star Wars'" Hamill had earlier tweeted that he was anticipating to meet William and Harry to settle on the uncertainty of whether Skywalker was a prince himself, due to his affiliation with princess Leia's brother. Likewise, Kensington palace had also tweeted of the visit earlier.
According to BBC, Prince William admitted that he is a "geek" when it comes to movies and that he and his brother were more than delighted to pose with Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and Hamill. In the photo of the cast and the two princes, Chewbacca, at his height of 7 feet 6inches, was seen towering over the 6-feet princes.
"Star Wars" star Daisy Ridley served as a tour guide for the two royals as they traveled around the film set. They also got a chance to meet another Briton, John Boyega, who plays Finn, and several droids, among them BB-8 and R2-D2.
The visit was initially designed to acknowledge the wealth of British creative talent employed in the making of the "Star Wars" films. The princes were offered a chance to contest with light sabers, where Harry turned to the dark side by choosing the very weapon that evil Kylo Ren used in the recent "Star Wars" installment.
The duke of Cambridge, on the other hand, remained on the good side by using Skywalker's light saber. As reports confirm, their choices were not intentional, but only coincidental. An article by Telegraph confirmed this by quoting Prince Harry as saying "Why do I always have to be the baddy?"
The two played along as they jokingly conversed about the fight. Later on, they shared hugs with Chewbacca and had a chat with Hamill who outpoured his humor about "Star Wars" on the royal pair.
