The parents of a three-year-old Chinese boy has the rain and clothes line to thank for sparing their son from death. The child fell from 15 floors but is still alive and recovering from the incident.

The culprit was the removal of glass panels from the window of their 15th floor unit in Changzhou Province due to renovation work, reported the Yangtse Evening Post. The victim, Qiqi, was attempting to lean his hands against the space where the glass panel used to be.

Despite the boy’s mother’s warning for the victim not to get too close to the window and remain in the living room of their new flat before the mother went to the kitchen, the kid still fell down more than 30 meters from the tower block in Jiangsu. Fortunately, Qiqi’s fall was broken by clothes lines on the seventh floor and the rain which made the grass on the ground softer.

Nevertheless, Qiqi sustained some injuries, specifically multiple bone fractures that he had to be rushed to the hospital where he remains in critical condition because he hit the ground face first. The boy was crying which the security guard heard and found Qiqi face down in soil in a garden next to their apartment building. The pavement was just 15 centimeters away from where the boy fell.

A passing vehicle brought Qiqi to the hospital where he will go through surgery for his injuries. The accident happened on April 11, reported Shanghaiist.

A similar incident happened a year ago when a three-year-old fell from three floors and hit a car, but the tyke had only minor scratches.
