“Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki is certainly laughing his way to the bank. Thanks to the leading role he got in the 16-episode Korean drama, he is not only the hottest actor in South Korea and China.

He probably is now one of the richest. According to a Chinese news site, in the last six months, the 30-year-old actor earned from doing commercials in China 16 million yuan ($2.5 million). But that is just the tip of the iceberg because not only did his talent fees go up since he got millions of adoring female fans for his Yoo Si Jin role, he also got more offers to do additional commercials.

Song Joong-ki has been receiving calls from 10 advertising agencies in China asking him to be their commercial model. If he accepts all the 10 offers, the young actor stands to earn 60 billion won ($53 million), reported Soompi.

Blossom Entertainment, the agency of the actor, confirmed receiving calls from the advertising agencies to make commercials for global and Chinese brands, but the company declined to provide the financial part, stating there are a lot of speculation about the matter.

Among the brands that Song Joong-ki is endorsing are Forencos, Dongwon F&B, Hite Jinro, Jeju Airlines and LG Household and Health Care.

One of his most recent commercial is for cosmetic brand Forencos which advertises itself as a “for environmental cosmetics.” The brand explained that they selected the actor as the face of the cosmetics because of his “clean and honest image” which Song Joong-ki showed perfectly in “Descendants of the Sun.”

For his part, the actor said, “I am going to work harder to show a better image, as now I am the model of a cosmetics brand.”
