'Tekken X Street Fighter' is an upcoming crossover fighting game being developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment.

Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially put "Tekken X Street Fighter" to bed and announced that the game will not see the light at the moment.

"Tekken" producer Katsuhiro Harada just revealed that the crossover fighter game is currently in development hell on the grounds that releasing the game could hamper the communities of both franchises. Not to mention that there are a lot of players were fervently playing the just-released "Street Fighter V," and the large crowd waiting for "Tekken 7."

"We try to keep the core community in mind as well as the wider audience that wants to play these games. We don't want to split these communities," Harada explained, in an interview with GameSpot on April 22, Friday.

While it has confirmed that the game's release has been put on hold, he did not uncover to what extent the status would last, which left gamer's thinking about whether the game is on the brink of cancellation. Nonetheless, Harada reassured fans that they are just looking for a good time window for releasing "Tekken X Street Fighter."

"A good window in which to release [the game] is something that's become difficult recently. So it's on hold for the moment," he added.

According to reports, the game is a partnership between Bandai Namco and Capcom and was first announced at the San Diego Comic-Con International in 2010. It crosses the universes of Namco's "Tekken" and Capcom's "Street Fighter" into one game, making a major roster from both franchises.

It has been learned that the gameplay of "Tekken X Street Fighter" will keep on featuring the same 3D fighting game engine of "Tekken" franchise as opposed to its predecessor, wherein the gameplay is based on the 2D engine of "Street Fighter."

While there is no word with regards to the game's plot, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono previously said that the game title is on independent timetables with each being developed separately, Kotaku reported. To date, Harada expressed that development of the game had already come far along, stating that polygon models and other gameplay systems had already been completed.
