MacBook Pro 2016 on Release Date Headlined by AMD GPU Upgrade as June WWDC Unveiling Confirmed?

Apple may announce new MacBooks during WWDC 2016.

The release date of the MacBook Pro 2016 models is believed to be very near, which should be within or right after Apple's 2016 WWDC that will kick off June 13. Two screen sizes - 13-inch and 15-inch - are at least expected and a new report has indicated that among the feature upgrade is an AMD graphic engine that is twice faster from the GPU found on the current models.

The GPU for the upcoming MacBook Pro is supposed to be a pick between NVIDIA and AMD but it is the latter that won the nod of Apple, Macworld reported. Apparently, the tech giant favored AMD's 14nm FinFET processor node that promises to deliver significant bumps in processing might and speed.

"It is also presumed the new GPU will be twice as fast as the current MacBook Pro, making it a worthy upgrade for most," the report said. For users, Apple's decision will mean a more fulfilling experience in productivity and gaming aspects.

As for the other rumored MacBook Pro feature upgrades, reports said that there will be at least two connectivity ports unlike the sole provision seen in the new 12-inch MacBook 2016. But it remains unclear if the refreshed Pro will feature USB Type-C or USB 3.0.

The same Macworld report also echoed the likelihood of a MacBook Pro with touchscreen display that is detachable at the same time - obviously a design approach that intends to challenge Microsoft's Surface Book. There are talks too that a keyless keyboard is in serious consideration, purportedly to work in tandem with the laptop's Force Touch-enabled trackpad.

And as the MacBook display will support touch input, the possibility is there that the device will also recognize users' scrawling with the Apple Pencil but this happening is remote at the moment.

Yet to be certain, Intel Skylake chip will be on board by the time the new MacBook Pros are unboxed so buyers stand to get increased computing muscle and speed and log in more computing hours in a single charge. Skylake's partner in powering the MacBook Pro 2016 is confirmed as OS X 10.12, which likely will be renamed as MacOS.

On release date, which as mentioned will be within the 2016 WWDC this June or immediately after the event, the upgraded MacBook Pros will mostly mirror the build and design of the 12-inch MacBook, indicating that a Rose Gold finish will be part of the menu. Price will start at $1300.
