Song Joong-ki Seoul Fan Meet

Besides modeling assignments and photoshoots for commercial endorsements, what’s keeping “Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki extremely busy is his ongoing Asian tour.

Soompi reported on Tuesday that the 30-year-old actor has a scheduled visit to Bangkok, Thailand, on May 7. The following week, he would visit Beijing in China where he is currently the most popular actor, following the success of the 16-episode Korean Hallyu in the Asian giant. It would be his first fan meet in China.

The commercial endorsements and Asian tour is part of the Song Joong-ki mania sweeping Asia that some netizens have expressed concern for the actor as images show he appears tired. After he attended on Friday the launch of the Dior Home Winter 20162017 collection in Hong Kong, Song Joong-ki was swarmed by media who battled for space as they thrust microphones in his face.

Along with these media appearances, the actor is already busy practicing for his scenes for his new movie "Detective Hong Gil-dong," which he announced on Monday at a press conference.

After that, his next project is the film “Battleship Island,” according to Korea Herald. It is a period film about the Japanese occupation of Korea. He would play Park Moo-young, an independence fighter who would infiltrate a Japanese island to rescue Korean fighters captured by Japan. The actor considers the role of Park Moo-young a dream come true.

“I really want to do a period piece set in the Japanese occupation era. With this film, I’ve cleared one longtime goal,” Song Joong-ki said. However, he added that he is not abandoning his pretty boy image as he promised fans to work hard to maintain his clear skin. “I am going to prevent aging as much as possible,” he said which is not hard to do considering that he is the endorser of top cosmetic brands in China and South Korea.
