Sexologist Fang Gang gives a lecture on sex education to educators in Shandong.

Famed sex expert and author Fang Gang trained hundreds of teachers and educators in eastern China’s Shandong Province on how to edify the youth of China about human reproduction.

Fang, a professor from the Beijing Forestry University, conducted a seminar at the Jinan Foreign Language School in Jinan where he lectured over 400 teachers, volunteers and consultants hailing from different parts of Shandong.

The 38-year-old expert discussed how to use a lesson book he created in the hopes of enlightening teachers as to how to educate their students in the basics of sex.

"The book is based on recent experiences with sexuality education from around the world. Everything in it has been proven to be beneficial to young kids, and we followed UNESCO's International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education," he explained.

According to the state-owned news bureau the Global Times, his book about sex revolves around one basic concept--that is, "sex is a fundamental human right."

It tackles matters from puberty to love and sex, to gender equality, and discusses specific human reproduction topics including the female menstrual cycle, breast development, masturbation, homophobia, dating, and preventing sexual violence.

During the seminar, Fang also expressed his hopes that China would one day have a standardized sex education curriculum, but is contented at spreading knowledge about it one school at a time for now.

Sex education is usually incorporated to psychology or hygiene classes and is commonly more focused on the biology of the sexes.

However, content about this topic usually varies from one school to another without any standard lesson plan to strategically cover all necessary sub-topics.
