'Overwatch' update: Bllizzard announce open beta release date, game modes, maps; New trailer features 'Overwatch's' backstory [VIDEO]

Overwatch is a multiplayer first-person shooter game developed by Blizzard Entertainment for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.

The latest details for "Overwatch" will feature new , game modes and release date for the open beta and a new trailer dictating the team's backstory.

Blizzard Entertainment announced this week new details for the upcoming open beta for "Overwatch" as they are making final preparations for the game before its starts. The official opening of "Overwatch's" open beta gameplay will start on May 4-9 in the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC platforms.

However, for gamers who have pre-ordered "Overwatch" can start playing the open beta on May 2 at exactly 4 PM EST, which is also the scheduled time for the game in the official open beta launch. Gamers from all over the world such as London, Singapore, Sidney, Paris, United States etc. will be experiencing the "Overwatch" open beta as it features all 21 playable characters, 12 in-game maps and four multiplayer modes.

The game modes present in the open-beta include "Quick Play", "Play vs. AI", "Custom Game", "Weekly Brawl modes", "Tutorial", "Practice Range", and "Practive vs. AI". The multiplayer maps on the other hand, consist of "Assault", "Escort", Assault/Escort Hybrid and Control.

The 12 game maps within "Overwatch's" open beta will feature Hanamura, Temple of Anubis, and Volskaya Industries for Assault. Dorado, Route 66, and Watchpoint: Gibraltar for Escort. Hollywood, King's Row, and Numbani in the Assault/Escort Hybrid. And Ilios, Lijiang Tower, and Nepal for Control.

Gamers can download the "Overwatch" open beta at 6.5 GB for the PC version, while the console versiosn will have a file size of 11 GB. Xbox One users are required to have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, while PlayStation Plus will not be needed, Gamespot reported.

In other news, a new game trailer fot "Overwatch" will feature a little backstory on how the team as been form within the game.

The video features the hyper intelligent gorilla Winston narrating the story in many humorous and funny takes. Winston revealed that "Overwatch" was formed to fight the Omnics and save the world from them during the war 30 years ago. Many people have praised and adored the "Overwatch" for their heroic deeds against the Omnics.

But after the war, the world did not need them anymore to the point that they are branded "criminals" as the world plunge into chaos. Winston urges everyone that world needs them once again as the video ends will all 21 playable characters and the announcement of the open beta's release dates, Polygon reported.

"Overwatch" is scheduled to be release on May 24 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
