Mark Zuckerberg Declares Facebook's 11th Birthday Friends Day On Facebook

Facebook is the CEO and one of the founders of Facebook.

Facebook turns 11 years this year and there are some facts that users should know about the social media giant.

With his company turning 11, Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg defines the 11th birthday as a day of friendship, a day to celebrate friends. He explained that Facebook's birthday is not about celebrating the company but rather the friendship within it. 

"Today is a day to celebrate friends. It's also Facebook's birthday, but today isn't about celebrating us. It's about friendship," Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page. "This sounds simple, but not often enough are we taught to celebrate friends." 

Dominating the social media industry for the past years, Facebook is earning about $8 million in a year. It gets most of its revenues from advertising campaigns.

Mobile usage of Facebook has become immense. Three-quarter's of their revenue is from mobile ads which add up to $2.5 billion in the fourth quarter. Part of its business plan is changing the world.

Facebook focused on getting people connected. The company is leading the way in virtual reality. It plans to help Hollywood to use virtual reality in their films.

Soon, Facebook is going to delete fake news stories and combat those who are posting such hoax news. It also wants to help find missing children. With the use of Amber Alert in Facebook, it will be easier and more effective to find missing kids.

In 2014, the acquisition of WhatsApp lost Facebook money. But at this point, Facebook is ready to face Google in a battle. It will ramp up its internal search engine and will beat up YouTube for video supremacy.

Moreover, Facebook helps in finding more work. Facebook at Work is a Facebook app that can be used by office workers like email; improve workflow like Yammer and Chatter.
