It has been seven years since Valve released "Left 4 Dead 2," and now avid fans have been clamoring for the release of the next installment in the "Left for Dead" franchise. With the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 looming, it is rumored that Valve will give some update concerning "Left 4 Dead 3" during the June 14-16 event.
The game developer company, Valve, has been mum on whether or not there will be a release of "Left 4 Dead 3." However, based on the job listing spotted on co-developer Turtle Rock Studios' official website, fan expect that the company will eventually work on the third installment to the zombie/horror-themed first-person shooter game.
According to the job listing, Turtle Rock Studios is soliciting for an animation programmer. Since the developer did not specify on the project being worked on, it might take years before this new game is available. The company might give precise information if development is ongoing, although it is not clear.
While fans expect that both Valve and Turtle Rock Studios eventually work on "Left 4 Dead 3," it is unlikely given that Turtle Rock Studio's founder Phil Robb has no plans for the game.
Speaking with Xbox Achievements in 2015, Robb said, "I think we're pretty much done with it. It's Valve's thing now. We've kind of gone off in our own direction."
Turtle Rock Studios founder as well pointed out that if he were to come back for the third installment, he will most probably return as a fan but not a developer. As a way of confirming that the studio will not be engaged, he said, "I doubt you'll see anything from us."
There are speculations that "Left 4 Dead 3" will launch in 2017, although Valve neither has given a confirmation nor denied the rumors. Avid fans have no option but to hope that there is a future for "Left 4 Dead 3" based on several rumors that have been circulating the internet.
Among the rumors that have been going around is the fact that Valve will introduce four new characters. However, these rumors should be taken with a pinch of salt.
