If reports are anything to go by, the Nexus 7 (2016) will be released on May 18, 2016.

According to reports, the tech giant Google is working on the Nexus 7 (2016). The company is expected to announce the device at its annual Developers Conference 2016.

Earlier, the search giant released Nexus devices in the second half of the year. However, according to recent reports, in 2016, it may take a different course and choose to launch the Nexus 7 (2016) in May 2016.

Since 2013, the company has not refreshed the Nexus 7 tablet lineup. The 7-inch tablet comes with a screen resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels. The Nexus 7 (2013) is powered by Snapdragon S4Pro and has 16GB and 32GB of internal storage options and 2GB of RAM.

Several reports also indicate that the Android N operating system will debut on the upcoming Nexus device. Also, the software company discontinued the Nexus 9 tablet that was launched back in 2014. The tablet is no longer in production.

Furthermore, there are speculations that the Nexus 7 2016 will be made by Chinese company, Huawei. The Nexus 7 2013 and the Nexus 7 2012 versions were produced by Asus, Digital Trends reported.

Compared to its earlier models, Google Nexus 7 2016 will be a much-improved device. Rumors are doing the rounds that the upcoming Nexus device will feature a 7-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1800 pixels.

The device is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 820 processor. Reports also indicate that the Nexus 7 2016 will have 4 GB of RAM.

Speculation has it that the new device may come with Tegra X1 processor (NVIDIA). According to several reports, the Nexus 7 2016 will pack a 3,000 mAh battery.

It is important to note that Google has not confirmed these rumors.

Meanwhile, the tech company has revealed some of its security features for Android N operating system that will prevent Stagefright vulnerabilities from occurring again and restrict the capabilities of the software bugs that their team misses.

In Android N, the software giant is dividing the mediaserver into distinct pieces, each piece with access to a particular subsystem, 9to5 Google reported. For example, only the cameraserver will access the camera and only the audioserver will access Bluetooth.
